The Delhi High Court on Monday decided to hear several bail pleas in the UAPA case related to northeast Delhi pogrom.

Dozens of human rights defenders and Muslim activists are in jail under draconian charges in the case since 2020 while some of the booked were granted bail.

The High Court special bench comprising Justices Siddharth Mridul and Rajanish Bhatnagar said that it will hear the matters daily post-lunch from next week.

The same bench on October 15 dismissed the appeal of prominent activist Umar Khalid against the trial court order denying bail to him.

The HC said that it will hear jailed Muslim activist Khalid Saifi’s bail plea today and Friday. The Bench will hear the matters every day post-lunch from next week.
