A woman associated with a Hindutva organisation in Uttarakhand’s Dehradun allegedly coerced another woman into filing a false molestation complaint against a man from a minority community, police said. The accused, identified as Radha Dhoni, threatened to release obscene videos of the woman’s minor daughter on social media if she refused to comply, according to a police official at Rajpur Police Station.
The incident occurred on Thursday and it came to light after the woman approached the police. The woman asserted that Radha Dhoni had forced her to lodge a false complaint against the man. She also accused Dhoni of abuse and coercion, police said.
Radha Dhoni, whose full name is Radha Semwal Dhoni, leads the Pradesh unit of the Hindu Yuva Vahini. She also maintains a YouTube channel where she promotes her activities.
Dhoni, described as a social activist, has also been known for advocating that Hindus avoid doing business with Muslim vendors and shopkeepers in Dehradun, the official added. Her name recently surfaced in connection with the demolition of a mazar on the premises of the Doon School.
A case has been registered against Dhoni under Section 351(1) of the BNS Act for using threats to force action against one’s will and Sections 11(v) and 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act, pertaining to the use of fabricated sexual depictions of a child and punishment for sexual harassment.
