Dalit woman sexually assaulted in Rautahat

A woman in Dewahi Gonahi Municipality, Rautahat, who was sexually abused a few days ago has called for justice and action against the perpetrator.

A 30-year-old woman who belonged to the Dalit community was sexually assaulted in Dewahi Gonahi Municipality in Rautahat district.

The victim alleged that Rakesh Raut Kurmi, 40, raped her while she was asleep. Kurmi threatened to kill her if she resisted his sexual advances.

The accused managed to escape after threatening her to not disclose the incident to her family members or else he will kill them all.

Police said that the victim underwent medical examination at the District Hospital, Gaur on Friday.

According to the Area Police Office, Garuda, they are on the lookout for the suspect. The police said that the suspect threatened to take her life as well as that of her family members.

Earlier this week, another rape case was reported in the district.

Nageshwor Kushwaha, 50, of Uchihid Village in Dewahi Gonahi Municipality-7 was arrested on July 8 on charge of raping a 27-year-old woman while she was on her way back home from Garuda.

Garuda Area Police Office DSP Shreeram Bhandari said that people have called for justice and action against the perpetrator in the area.
