Hubballi: The Samata Sena Dal and other Dalit organisations held a protest, demanding the arrest of Sri Ram Sene chief Pramod Mutalik, at the tahsildar’s office here on Wednesday.
They said Mutalik, the founder of Sri Ram Sene, was provoking people by making hate speeches against minority communities, particularly Muslims, and was trying to disturb peace in society, the said.
The Dalit organisations said that the state government had kept quiet and not taken any action against Mutalik for his hate speeches.
“Karnataka is known for peace and communal harmony for centuries. Saints and social reformers like Basavanna, Kanakadas, Shishunala Sharif and many others laid the foundation for equality, communal harmony and peaceful co-existence. Now, in recent times, people like Mutalik are trying to create tension in society based on caste and religion. Hence, we are demanding the government arrest and file cases against Mutalik,” the organisations said while submitting a memorandum.
