A Dalit man was shot dead and another sustained severe injuries in a clash between two groups on Wednesday night in Faridabad, police said.
According to police, the incident took place around 8 pm on Wednesday at Fatehpur Billoch village in Faridabad when a man, identified as Devendra, was shot dead by a group of people.
An FIR has been registered at the Ballabgarh Sadar police station on the complaint of Devendra’s cousin Sundar Lal. In the complaint, Lal said Devendra was going towards the market when a group of men, identified as Om Prakash, Shiv, Dheeraj, Dilip, Krishna, Dhruv, Mangeram, Shamsher Singh, Jagdish alias Chhotu, Laxman and their relatives, attacked him.
“When they shot him, a crowd gathered in the area. They were firing relentlessly. Despite this, Om Prakash, his sons, and their associates continued firing, using casteist slurs while shooting. During the incident, a bullet struck Babulal in the jaw, and he was hospitalised in critical condition,” the complaint stated.
Police said they received a call from the police control room informing them that there had been a shooting in Fatehpur Billaunch. Upon this information, a team reached the village. Though Devendra was taken to Sarvodaya Hospital, he succumbed to his injuries, police said. No arrests have been made yet in the case.
