Two men were arrested for allegedly raping a Dalit girl in the Ghatampur area of the Kanpur district in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday.
The accused forcibly picked up the girl while she was working on the paddy field, dragged her into the bushes and gang-raped her.
The victim’s sister, who was also working with her, informed villagers about the incident.
Locals immediately caught hold of the two accused and handed them over to police, while the third accused managed to escape.
Meanwhile, the victim’s father said, “I wasn’t at home. My daughter had gone to the field to work with her sister, when some men picked her up and gang-raped her.”
An FIR has been filed in connection with he gangrape of the girl.
Superintendent of Police, outer Kanpur, Ashtabhuja Pratap Singh said, “The girl has filed an FIR alleging that she was gang-raped by three men. Two of the accused have been arrested, while the search is on to nab the third accused. A medical check-up is being conducted for the victim.”
