Mangaluru, Dec 4, 2024: A protest organized by the Hindu Hitarakshana Samithi of Dakshina Kannada district near the Clock Tower in Mangaluru descended into chaos on Wednesday morning, as tensions flared between Hindutva activists and journalists covering the event.

The demonstration, aimed at demanding protection for Hindus in Bangladesh, escalated when protesters breached police barricades and attempted to block the road. Law enforcement officers intervened to disperse the crowd, leading to a heated exchange between the activists and police.

Amid the unrest, the protesters turned their ire toward journalists on the scene. A video journalist from a private news channel was reportedly shoved and narrowly escaped an assault by some of the activists.

In response to the aggression, the journalists collectively decided to boycott the event, leaving the site in protest.
