The Bharatiya Jananta Party (BJP) MP, Ramesh Bidhuri, who recently shouted abusive anti-Muslim remarks against BSP MP Danish Ali in Parliament, has been appointed as the party’s election in-charge of the Tonk constituency in Rajasthan.

The decision came amid speculation that Congress leader Sachin Pilot would be contesting from the Tonk constituency in the upcoming assembly elections. Tonk is a stronghold of Pilot.

The Rajasthan Legislative Assembly election is scheduled to be held in or before November of this year to elect representatives for the 200-member house.

Recently, huge controversy erupted after the BJP MP Bidhuri made objectionable anti-Muslim remarks against Danish Ali in the Lok Sabha during a discussion on the Chandrayaan-3 mission. After it drew outrage, his comments were expunged.
