AGRA: Fifteen men, including a BJP youth wing office-bearer Chandan Kashyap (23) in the district, have been booked for allegedly attacking a Dalit family in Kachpura locality of Etah district on Thursday evening.
According to the FIR registered at Raja Ka Rampur police station, the incident took place during a programme related to wedding celebrations of the complainant’s granddaughter.
Complainant Rajendra Kumar Valmiki said two of his relatives who were on a motorcycle were abused and casteist slurs were hurled by Chandan. When they objected, Chandan and 14 others started pelting stones at the Dalit locality. “A group of men from the upper caste led by the BJP youth wing worker attacked my family members with sticks. Three of my relatives suffered injuries on the head and face. My niece has a fracture on the collarbone. We are being threatened by the family members of the accused, who are absconding. Our lives are in danger,” said Valmiki in the FIR.
Santosh Kumar Valmiki, who suffered injuries on his head and face, said, “The main accused, Chandan, has been restricting people from the Dalit community, living in Kachpura locality, from passing through the adjoining Kehraan locality where he lives. On Thursday, Chandan launched a planned attack to terrorise the people of the Dalit community. The accused men fled after police arrived.”
