Rebutting the Congress and Left parties’ complaint that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speeches were divisive, BJP president J P Nadda, in his reply to the Election Commission, has not only defended all of Modi’s statements but also urged the EC to take action against the party for its alleged denigration of Hinduism which it called India’s foundational religion, The Indian Express has learnt.

In his reply to the EC sent Monday, Nadda, referring to Modi’s statement that the Congress manifesto bears the stamp of the Muslim League, is reported to have said that Congress, like the Muslim League, has tried to divide the country. He has also said that by staying away from the inauguration of the Ram temple ceremony, the party had committed a sin.

Nadda claimed that just as the Muslim League sowed the seeds of India’s Partition, Congress has attempted to divide the country’s south from its northern parts through economic non-cooperation and linguistic differences.
