BJP had dropped its incumbent MP from Muzaffarpur, instead giving the ticket to Raj Bhushan Nishad

The sitting Lok Sabha member from Bihar’s Muzaffarpur, Ajay Kumar Nishad, joined the Congress on Tuesday after he was denied a ticket by his former party, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Mr. Nishad joined the Congress at the All India Congress Committee (AICC) headquarters in the presence of Bihar Congress president Akhilesh Prasad Singh, AICC in-charge Mohan Prakashand, head of the AICC media and publicity department Pawan Khera, among others.

“Even a person condemned to the gallows is given a final wish but I was not even told once before my ticket was cut,” Mr. Nishad said, vowing to shatter the “arrogance of someone” and strengthen the Congress in Bihar.

Thanking the Congress leadership, Mr. Nishad claimed the upcoming election would be an election of janta ka bal (people’s strength) and not dhanbal (money power).

The BJP had dropped him from the Muzaffarpur Lok Sabha seat, giving the ticket to Raj Bhushan Nishad.
