NEW DELHI – Warning Muslim protesters of a “taste of Israel,” if they continue their protest against the sacrilegious remarks by Hindutva proponent Yati Narsinghanand, Mani Tripathi said on Tuesday that the country was being administered under the Indian Constitution given by “Babasaheb” rather than Islamic law.

“Here, treatment will be given through the constitution of Babasaheb and not the Shariah, and that too a proper one… don’t cry then,” wrote Tripathi in a post on X.

Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind chief Maulana Mahmood Madani has written to BJP president JP Nadda and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, demanding immediate disciplinary and legal action against BJP MLAs Nand Kishore Gurjar (Loni, Ghaziabad) and Dr Shalabh Mani Tripathi (Deoria) for their recent inflammatory remarks.

In his letter, Maulana Madani condemned the provocative statements made by the two BJP legislators, describing their remarks as “adding fuel to fire”. He emphasised that these statements, coming at a time when public sentiment is already deeply hurt due to Narsinghanand’s derogatory comments, could further destabilise peace and harmony in the region.

Maulana Madani expressed concern over Gurjar’s call for the police to open fire on protesters and his suggestion that those not arrested should be “killed in encounters.” The MLA’s defence of Narsinghanand’s hateful speech, claiming it was made “in anger,” was also criticised. Tripathi’s similar provocative remarks, which were posted on X (formerly Twitter), have further aggravated the situation.
