NEW DELHI – BJP MLA from Goshamahal constituency in Hyderabad T Raja Singh has sparked outrage with his latest incendiary remarks, threatening the Muslim community while referencing the controversial 15-minute statement made by AIMIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi. Singh’s comments, made during a gathering at the ongoing Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, have once again stoked communal tensions in the region.
In a video posted on social media platform X, Singh responded to Owaisi’s previous remarks and said, “What are you telling us, give us 15 minutes, remove the police, and we will eliminate 100 crore Hindus?” The BJP leader went on to make specific threats against Muslims in Uttar Pradesh and Hyderabad, stating that if Naga Sadhus, who gather during the Maha Kumbh, were sent to Hyderabad, the city would witness a drastic shift. He added, “Those who speak of 15 minutes will go to Pakistan; there will be no clash with Hindus, when Hindus rise, history is written.”
Singh’s words have drawn widespread condemnation for their inflammatory and divisive nature. The controversial remarks are seen as a direct provocation against the Muslim community, particularly in Uttar Pradesh, where tensions have been high over recent political developments.
His comments about Naga Sadhus, known for their historical association with religious and political movements during crises, further fuelled the controversy. Singh claimed, “The history of Naga Sadhus is that they never come in public, they come only during Kumbh, and whenever there was a crisis on Sanatan, these same Naga Sadhus raised their voices and spears.”
The remarks have prompted strong reactions from various political leaders and civil rights activists, who have accused Singh of spreading hatred and promoting violence. Political leaders in Hyderabad have also responded, calling for swift action against Singh for inciting communal discord.
The incident has once again raised concerns about the growing climate of intolerance and religious intolerance in India, with many questioning the role of politicians in exacerbating communal divisions.
As the controversy continues to unfold, it remains to be seen what actions, if any, will be taken by the authorities in response to the provocative statements made by the BJP leader.
