BJP candidate for the local body election, Madan Joshi, delivered a speech targeting Muslims during his campaign. Referring to independent candidate Mohammad Akram, he declared, “I will not let Ramnagar turn into Rehmatnagar.” Joshi also promoted conspiracy theories of “love jihad” and “land jihad,” and openly appealed to voters to cast their votes along religious lines.
