The Bongaigaon district administration has ordered the demolition of the madrassa.
According to the order from the Bongaigaon deputy commissioner’s office, the Markazul Ma-Arif Quariana Madrassa does not have enough emergency supplies to handle a fire or an earthquake. According to the administration, there is not enough open space on the campus of the university to be used in the event of a disaster.
According to a report from the district superintendent of police, the madrassa was home to 224 pupils, according to the deputy commissioner’s directive.
Except for a mosque that was situated in a different section of the madrassa complex, the authorities ordered the demolition of the entire building.
This is the third madrassa in the state to be destroyed this month as a result of increased operations by the Assam Police.
37 people have so far been detained by the police on suspicion of having connections to the AQIS and Ansarullah Bangla Team.
Earlier a madrassa in Barpeta district, which had allegedly sheltered two Bangladeshi members of Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) for four years, was demolished by the district administration on Monday.
Barpeta Superintendent of Police Amitabh Sinha had said, “Since this madrasa was built on government land, it was demolished in an eviction drive by Barpeta district administration.” Police personnel were deployed to maintain law and order.
