In another chilling incident, a Muslim man was lynched by a mob in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, on Tuesday night. The victim, 35-year-old Mohammad Farid alias Aurangzeb, was attacked on suspicion of theft and succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter.

Disturbing videos circulating online show the brutal assault on Farid, who a group of men mercilessly beat. He was being ruthlessly beaten by lathis, punched, and kicked by the mob. Another heart-wrenching video shows him lying lifeless on a hospital bed, his eyes hauntingly open.

The incident occurred in the Mama Bhanja locality when Farid was seen emerging from the residence of Mukesh Chand Mittal, a textile trader.

According to the police, Mittal’s son, Rohit, had just stepped out to see off a friend when he noticed Farid. Suspecting him of theft, Rohit raised an alarm. Farid, in an attempt to flee, fell off the stairs and was quickly overpowered by the Mittal family and neighbors who had gathered.

Superintendent of Police Mrigank Shekhar Pathak confirmed to The Indian Express that an FIR under IPC section 302 (murder) was registered at the Gandhi Park police station late Tuesday night. “We have arrested four persons named in the FIR so far and are trying to identify others involved in the incident through available video footage. No one will be spared,” Pathak added.

In one particularly harrowing clip, Farid is seen being dragged along the road. Eventually, a police officer can be seen carrying an injured Farid to a hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival, as per the reports.
