PATNA – Following strong social media protests, police authorities in Bihar’s Buxar district have taken cognizance of viral videos spreading hate towards Muslims. They have set up a team to look into all aspects of the objectionable videos.
In a statement released on Monday, the SP office in Buxar said the police got information on Sunday through Facebook and Twitter about some objectionable videos targeting Muslims being made by a channel named MVS Films. The channel makes comedy videos and its chief member Ashish Pandey is possibly a resident of Buxar.
“He and two other individuals are attempting to disturb the communal harmony of society by making humiliating and objectionable videos by portraying theie characters in the attire of Muslims. Taking cognizance of the information, the SP has formed a team led by the DSP of cybercrimes to verify the above information,” said the police.
The police also appealed not to post photos and videos which hurt religious and communal sentiments.
The police statement came after several social media users objected to the videos and tagged Bihar police officials. One 35-minute video claims that madrasas are training children on ways and means to derail trains. The video shows two men noticing a character wearing a skull cap and in Muslim attire near a railway track. When the two men asked him what he was doing at the track, he said he had to board a train. Then, suddenly a screwdriver drops from his pocket. He runs away and vows to do ‘rail jihad’ saying “Ya Allah” and “Kafir”.
