Just days after the horrific rape of an 11-year-old Dalit girl in Rampur, another shocking case has emerged—this time in Agra’s Kheragarh area. A 12-year-old Dalit girl was allegedly kidnapped from her home while sleeping and raped by a neighbour in the early hours of Friday.
Police said the accused, a local sweet shop owner, entered the girl’s house between 1-2 AM, took her to an isolated spot outside the village, and assaulted her. Despite the trauma, the brave girl managed to return home and inform her father, a daily wage labourer, who immediately reported the crime at Kheragarh police station.
An FIR has been filed under Section 64(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for rape, along with sections of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and the POCSO Act.
CCTV Footage Helps Identify Accused
Investigations revealed that the girl was sleeping on a cot when the accused approached her. She tried to scream but was gagged with a cloth. CCTV footage captured the man taking her away.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Atul Sharma said, “We have identified the accused (in his 30s) through CCTV, and three police teams are working to arrest him. We will ensure a fast trial and maximum punishment. The girl has been sent for medical examination.”
A police officer told TOI, “Bloodstains were found at the crime scene. The accused, who lives nearby, fled with help from his community members. Further probe is underway.”
