A young Dalit man in Rajasthan’s Sikar district was allegedly sexually assaulted, beaten and urinated upon by two men, who also hurled casteist slurs and threatened to circulate a video of the assault if he spoke out, police said on Sunday.

The incident happened on April 8, but it came to light only on April 16 when the young man’s family lodged a police complaint, after which a case was registered against the accused under relevant sections of the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, police added.

“They were drunk. They hit me with a bottle, urinated on me and used casteist slurs,” the survivor alleged in his complaint.

“We have registered an FIR in the matter. Medical examination of the young man has been done and his statement has been recorded. The matter is being investigated,” news agency PTI quoted Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Arvind Kumar as saying.

On the night of April 8, the young man was called by the accused to a nearby bus stand under the pretext of some work when he was watching a wedding procession pass by his house, the complaint said.

Thereafter, the two men forcibly took him to some secluded place, forced him to take off his clothes, hit him on his private parts and sodomised him, the complaint added, while also claiming that the accused said they would harm his father, who is abroad.
