
A Dargah was reportedly demolished around 3:00 a.m. in Uttarakhand’s Rudrapur by local administration under the banner of a highway widening project.
The video of the demolition went viral on social media sparking a controversy. According to the local administration, the Dargah was allegedly built on encroached government land and a notice was also served by the authorities.
Similar demolition was carried out by the municipal corporation in Haryana Faridabad district of 50 year old mosque Aqsa Masjid was levelled to ground level despite the case still in the supreme court.
The incident took place on April 15 sparking public outcry. Locals accused the district administration of acting arbitrary when the case of alleged encroachment was yet to be proven
