Muslim boy was brutally assaulted by police officers while he was returning home after Eid shopping.

A shocking incident came to light on Tuesday from Uttarkhand’s Rudrapur where a Muslim boy was brutally assaulted by police officers while he was returning home after Eid shopping.

The 14-year old victim, Aarish has alleged that the policemen were drunk and  were in plain clothes who attacked, handcuffed and assaulted him while  at the Rampura police outpost while he was fasting.

When Aarish’s family arrived, he was allegedly threatened by the policemen that he would be taken to jail. Aarish’s father, Atiq filed a police complaint at the Kotwali police station accusing the police of torturing his son for no reason.

Speaking to the media, Aarish alleged, “When I was returning after Eid shopping on my bike, I was stopped by policemen who thrashed me, pulled my bike keys and took me to the police outpost.”

The accused have been identified as Vijay and Mahesh. Aarish detailed the assault and alleged that when they saw his skull cap they hit him more with a belt. He added, “When I told them to stop and mentioned I was fasting, they assaulted me even more.”

A photo of Aarish shared online shows the severity of his injuries on his back. After the incident came to be known, Congress leaders Mohan Kheda and Sanjay Anuja from the Traders’ Association went to the Kotwali police station to bring the issue to authorities’ attention.

Rudrapur CO Prashant Kumar said that an investigation will be launched if he receives a complaint regarding the assault of a minor.
