A Karkardooma Court has discharged cases against eleven Muslim men due to a “lack of evidence” who were named in an FIR related to the 2020 Delhi pogrom, where they were accused of killing another Muslim man and instigating violence in Northeast Delhi’s Khajuri Khas.

On 25 February 2020, a resident of Khajuri Khas, Babbu, was coming from work in his auto when he was attacked by a Hindu mob that beat him mercilessly.

The court also ordered a trial against the accused from the Hindu community who were identified by eyewitnesses for killing during the violence.

According to video evidence, a mob was seen beating Babbu and another man wearing a skullcap brutally. While the man in the skullcap managed to run away, Babbu was left on the road to die.

Babbu later succumbed to his injuries at GTB Hospital.

In the case, the Delhi Police had arrested 19 people, including 11 Muslims, who the police accused of being seen in the video. However, a Karkardooma Court said that the men were discharged due to a lack of evidence.
