Srinagar: PDP leader Iltija Mufti has claimed that small boys are being picked up in Kulgam, Budgam, and Ganderbal, questioning the government’s actions.

“Are all of them militants? Why is everyone being viewed with suspicion?” she asked, expressing surprise over the silence of ministers on the issue.

Her statement comes amid reports that over 500 people were detained across Kashmir by the Jammu and Kashmir Police for questioning after the killing of ex-army man Manzoor Ahmad Wagay in Kulgam.

Wagay, along with his wife and niece, was attacked by militants. While he succumbed to his injuries, his wife and niece survived and are receiving treatment.

The detentions have drawn criticism from the PDP, with party chief and former CM Mehbooba Mufti questioning the NC-led government’s handling of the situation. Iltija Mufti also asked why every Kashmiri is being viewed with suspicion and why such large-scale detentions are taking place.
