A young man from Bihar’s Purnia has been arrested for threatening to bomb the Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj. The accused, identified as Ayush Kumar Jaiswal, had made the threat on social media using the fake name “Nasir Pathan.”

Ayush was arrested by Uttar Pradesh Police in collaboration with Bhawanipur Police during a raid at Shaheedganj Panchayat on Saturday. The threat was made on December 31, when Ayush, under the alias Nasir Pathan, warned of a bomb attack at the Kumbh Mela, a major religious gathering in Prayagraj. The police immediately launched an investigation after the threat was posted online.

Bhawanipur Police Station President Sunil Kumar said, “Ayush Kumar Jaiswal was arrested after a joint effort by UP Police and Bhawanipur Police. He has been identified as a person with a dangerous mindset. We are looking into his connections and the motives behind his actions.”

The police also confirmed that Ayush had travelled to Nepal shortly after making the threat. “We are investigating where Ayush went in Nepal and who he met there,” said Superintendent of Police Karthikeya Sharma.

Authorities have filed a case against Ayush for creating a fake social media ID and making a bomb threat. “Ayush Kumar Jaiswal is now in custody, and further investigation is underway to gather more information about his intentions,” added SP Sharma.

The police are also working to understand Ayush’s trip to Nepal and whether it is linked to the threat.
