Islamophobic speaker at anti-Bangladesh atrocities rally stokes tensions, draws on past riots to fuel fear

Location: Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh

A speaker delivered an Islamophobic speech at a meeting against atrocities on Hindus in Bangladesh. He claimed that when Hindus were not together, Roza-Iftar parties were held in the Chief Minister’s residence with government money, as if their fathers and fore-fathers were born from Muslims. He also referred to past riots in Meerut, Maliana, Bhagalpur, and Gujarat, where Muslim casualties were high, warning those he claimed were threatening to repeat Bangladesh in India.
