Former district president of Gurgaon’s Bajrang Dal unit and block coordinator has been arrested for opening fire at a man Monday, police said.
Police said a person named Jatin filed a complaint, stating that on Sunday night, he was at Dreams Mall in Sector 4/7 Chowk with his friends. Two men, including the arrested accused Abhishek Gaur, came in a car and asked him to move his vehicle, referring to him as “Chotu”.
“This led to a verbal altercation, during which one of the individuals said he would shoot at him. As the complainant asked how that could be done, he fired at him, hitting his vehicle,” said ACP (Crime 2) Manoj Kumar.
Abhishek (36) was later arrested. However, the VHP has distanced itself from him. The outfit’s Haryana state general secretary, Varun Gaur, said, “He is not the president or a member anymore. We are not aware of this incident.”
Kumar further said, “During police questioning, it was revealed that the accused had a dispute with the complainant regarding moving the vehicle. During this altercation, he fired a gun, leading to the incident described in the complaint. The police team is proceeding with the necessary actions regarding the case, and the investigation is ongoing. We have initiated the process to revoke his gun license.”
