The aim is to prevent vote division along caste lines and boost voter turnout, ensuring an advantage for BJP and its allies, avoiding past election conflicts.

PUNE: Vishwa Hindu Parishad is planning to hold over 25 mass meetings — “Sant Sammelan” — to consolidate Hindu votes for the saffron parties in the assembly polls.

BJP aims to regroup Hindu voters in its favour through these meetings of Vishwa Hindi Parishad (VHP) to avoid division of votes on the basis of caste. VHP is likely to hold mass meetings in Nagpur, Akola, Latur, Dharashiv, Beed, Latur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Nashik, and also in the Konkan region. Several VHP members and spiritual leaders will participate in these meetings.

VHP was not so actively involved in the state during the Lok Sabha elections. But now, it is.

VHP general secretary for Maharashtra and Goa, Govind Shende, said, “The idea behind organising such meetings is to unite the Hindu voters and improve the voting percentage in the state. We will not promote any particular party through our mass meetings, but we will appeal to Hindu voters not to get divided so that the other side benefits from it.”
Maratha quota activist Manoj Jarange took a stand against the candidates of Mahayuti during the Lok Sabha elections. The alliance faced the heat of his agitations, particularly in Marathwada, where senior BJP members like Raosaheb Danve and Pankaja Munde faced defeat.
