Authorities in BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh demolished the house and vandalized three cars belonging to Haji Shahzad Ali, a Congress party leader, allegedly for leading a protest against objectionable statements made about Prophet Mohammad and Islam by a Hindu monk. The protest reportedly turned violent. Critics have called it a retribution by the state against the Muslim leader.
