Jammu and Kashmir’s school education department has made it mandatory for morning assemblies in schools to begin with the national anthem.

In its latest circular, the department calls recitation of the national anthem “standard protocol” and says that the “ritual” of morning assemblies is not followed uniformly in schools across the UT.
