Police booked a BJP leader Thursday after a video showed his son, a minor boy, seemingly casting a vote for the party during the May 7 Lok Sabha election in Berasia in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhopal, an official said.

The Presiding Officer of the Berasia booth, Sandeep Saini, has also been suspended, said District Collector Kaushlendra Vikram Singh, who has ordered an investigation into the matter.

The 14-second video, allegedly involving the BJP’s district panchayat member, was flagged by Congress leader Kamal Nath’s media advisor. The video shows the boy pressing a button on the EVM linked to the lotus, the BJP’s symbol. The camera then pans to show the vote being registered by the VVPAT, or Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail machine, after which his father is purportedly heard saying: “Ok. That is enough now.”
