NEW DELHI: A Delhi court has sent a fresh summons to BBC at its UK address as previous attempts to serve summons were unsuccessful. The matter will be heard in Aug 2024.
District judge Ruchika Singla’s court, noting that summons issued to BBC were not received, directed on April 27 that the same “be issued afresh on UK address” in compliance with an order dated July 7, 2023 on filing of PF “within seven days”.
In July 2023, the court had issued summons to BBC in a defamation suit filed by BJP politician Binay Kumar Singh requesting that the UK national broadcaster be restrained from publishing a recent documentary on PM Modi or any other material related to RSS and Vishwa Hindu Parishad. The suit says allegations made in the documentary against RSS & VHP are motivated by malicious intent to defame the organisations, its members. TNN
