The Haryana Police have slapped charges under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) on Congress MLA Mamman Khan in connection with the 2023 Nuh violence that claimed six lives.

The final report by the Nuh police states that the legislator from Ferozpur Jhirka was charged under sections 3, 10 and 11, of the anti-terror law for inciting violence, apart from other charges.

According to documents, the action by the Nuh Police comes nearly six months after six people were killed in communal clashes that erupted in Nuh and adjoining areas following a yatra by the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) and the Bajrang Dal on July 31 last year.

The police report says that one of the accused told the investigators that Mamman Khan had arranged money (Rs 500 each) to be given to the miscreants through local sarpanchs before the riots erupted. It also says WhatsApp groups that had the name of the legislator – IT Cell Mamman Khan or Youth Team Mamman Khan – were formed for disseminating inflammatory posts.
