Five arrested in Trichy for sodomizing dalit man (The Times of India)

TRICHY: Police arrested five people for sodomizing a 24-year-old dalit man in Irungalur in Trichy and abusing him citing his caste.

K Vasanth, Kaviarasan, Yuvaraj, Ravi Bosco and Ayyanara of Irungalur have been arrested on charges of committing homosexual act on the survivour identified as a dalit resident of Tenkasi district. Police booked them under sections of IPC, SC/ST Act and Arms Act .

Police said the man was waiting for bus when Vasanth came on a bike and offered him a lift to Trichy city so that he could catch a bus to Tenkasi. As he got on the bike, Vasanth took him to a house at Irungalur. Before the man realised it, Vasanth locked the house from inside where he found four more people.

Police said all the five were under the influence of alcohol and ganja. They threatened him to cooperate with them for homosexual acts. As he refused, they assaulted him and sodomized him. The gang then forced the youth to reveal his caste identity. As he identified himself as a dalit, the gang verbally abused him using his caste name. They also threatened him with lethal weapons.
