Communal tension singes Muslim families in Uttarakhand. Having lived there for generations, they are now being asked to give up their livelihoods and vacate their homes
It all started on May 26 with the arrest of two men, including one who is a Muslim, for allegedly trying to ‘abduct’ a minor Hindu girl in Purola town in Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi district.
Soon members of right-wing groups were seen meeting Hindu landlords in the town and asking them to get shops and houses run by Muslims “vacated”…
