Uttar Pradesh BJP MLA Suresh Tiwari has asked people to not buy vegetables from Muslims. A video of the communal remark has gone viral, kicking up a row.
As the surging coronavirus cases and ongoing lockdown across the country take a toll on common man and their livelihood, a BJP MLA from Deoria has once again stoked the communal cauldron advising people to not buy vegetables from Muslim vendors.
A video of Uttar Pradesh BJP MLA Suresh Tiwari has surfaced in which he can be heard saying, “Keep this in mind and I am saying this openly, no one should buy vegetables from Muslims”.
Suresh Tiwari is a BJP MLA from Barhaj assembly seat in Deoria district of Uttar Pradesh.
This comes just days after Prime Minister Modi and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat called for unity and asked Indians to not discriminate against particular communities.
Mohan Bhagwat on Sunday said a community cannot be held responsible for the mistakes of a few. He called for people to help the affected without any discrimination.
Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party spokesperson Anurag Bhadauriya slammed Suresh Tiwari for his comments and said, “Even in such challenging times, BJP leaders are busy spreading hate in the society. These people should be slapped with sedition charges and put in jail.”
Recently in Delhi, a Muslim vegetable seller was beaten up by a man who first asked him his name and then thrashed him. A case was registered after a video of the incident went viral. However, such incidents are also coming from other parts of the country.
Recently, posters of Vishwa Hindu Parishad also showed up on fruit shops in Jamshedpur to demarcate the faith of the shopkeepers. Jamshedpur Police filed cases over the controversial posters.
In Meerut, Valentis Cancer Hospital published a controversial advertisement saying Muslims patients and their relatives can enter the hospital only if they can show documents of having tested negative for coronavirus.
