Four individuals associated with Bajrang Dal were arrested on Thursday in Karnataka’s Chikkamagaluru on charges of stopping an inter-faith marriage between a Hindu girl and Muslim boy.
The arrested are identified as Shama, Guru, Prasad and Parthibhan. The incident happened on Wednesday at the sub-registrar office.
According to The Hindu, the couple have been in love for about two years and the girl’s mother Shobha had been in support of the marriage. However, the activists of Bajrang Dal activists stopped their marriage and assaulted the groom.
Later. they took the boy and the girl to the police. Chikkamagaluru police made the arrest based on the complaint filed by the boy.
