PRAYAGRAJ–Seven months on, Allahabad high court granted bail to the accused in the violence that erupted after Friday namaz in Prayagraj.
Javed Mohammad alias Javed Pump was accused of fanning June 10, 2022, violence at Atala in Prayagraj.
“Although, it appears that due to the aggression and activeness of the applicant, the people of his community gathered in large numbers and after that mob committed the violence, considering the fact that applicant does not appear to be instrumental for such violence and he is in jail, in the present matter, since June 10, 2022, and as many as nine similarly placed accused persons have already been enlarged on bail and also considering the law laid down by the apex court in case of Satyendra Kumar Antil (supra) case, in my view applicant is entitled to be released on bail,” Justice Sameer Jain said.
Police had lodged FIR against Javed Mohammad and 13 others under different sections of IPC, Explosive Substance Act, Public Property Damages Act, and Explosive Substance Act on June 11, 2022.
Senior advocate SFA Naqvi argued that the applicant neither participated nor was he responsible for such an incident. He said more than 200 persons had participated in the incident but out of them, only 14 persons were named including the applicant.
