By Ravish Pal Singh, Hemender Sharma: Members of a right wing group created a ruckus inside the Christ Senior Secondary School in Madhya Pradesh’s Guna on Thursday and raised “Bharat Mata ki Jai” slogans after a student of Class 7 was allegedly punished for raising the slogan.
A ‘Sunderkand Path’ was also performed inside the school campus by activists of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and members of other right wing groups today.
The boy allegedly raised the slogans while walking back to the class after morning assembly on Wednesday. Initially, the school maintained that the student was punished for indiscipline since there is a set time for everything. “The issue is being taken in a different direction. The student was punished because he indulged in an act of indiscipline,” the school’s principal, Thomas Kollapalli, said.
The principal was, however, forced to give a written undertaking as pressure mounted from the right-wing activists and officials of the administration chose to comply.
In the undertaking, the principal wrote that such an incident would not be repeated and action would be taken against the teachers who punished the student and slogans of ‘Bharat mata ki Jai’ would be raised during the school assembly.
