According to VHP activists, for the past several days, they were getting information about the import and export of leather of cow progenies from the house of a leather trader, resident of Pokharpur, Chakeri.
Late on Tuesday evening, VHP, Bajrang Dal and BJP workers reached outside the leather trader’s house and informed the police. However, before the arrival of the police, people from other communities also gathered. Due to the matter being related to two communities, ADCP East Rahul Mithas and ACP Cantt Mrigank Shekhar Pathak reached the spot along with the heavy force.
The top officials tried to convince the crowd, but people from both the communities started shouting slogans causing tension. After this the police took the businessman to the police station for questioning. At the same time, people associated with the Hindu organization filed a complaint against the businessman in the police station. ACP Cantt Mrigank Shekhar Pathak said, “The matter is being investigated, on the basis of which action will be taken.”
