Bulandshahr: There seems to be no end to crimes against women across the country. In a fresh incident, a woman was allegedly gang-raped by three men while she was returning from a religious function.
The crime took place in BB Nagar area of Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh. The 19-year-old victim, who is a Dalit, got married some months back.
She was currently visiting her parents’ house. In his complaint to police, the victim’s father said that she had gone to a kirtan (religious function) with her mother on Wednesday night.
When they were returning from the programme, the woman’s stopped to relieve herself at 2am. Suddenly, her mother heard her scream. “When her mother went near the daughter, she was nowhere to be seen despite a thorough search. She immediately reached home and informed the family members. The members along with neighbours reached the spot and managed to find the victim in the bushes in an unconscious state,” the victim’s father stated in his complaint.
When the woman regained consciousness, she told family members that three youths abducted her and dragged her to a sugarcane field. The accused also reportedly used casteist slurs for the woman.
SHO Yogendra Kumar said two persons, who have been named in the complaint, have been booked under relevant sections of IPC. The two accused have been identified as Vikas and Kallu. One person has been taken into custody by the police.
