Hyderabad: Two Dalit girls hanged themselves in their hostel room at the government SC welfare girl’s hostel in Bhongir, around 50km from Hyderabad, on Saturday night after an alleged altercation with juniors. The two girls were studying in class 10 at a government school nearby. Both their families live in the city.
In the suicide note found by the cops, the two girls, who were friends, said they were falsely blamed and were ending their lives as they were “scared” and “embarrassed”.
“Nobody believes us. Only Shailaja ma’am (hostel warden) has believed us. We have not done what we are being accused of. We are being framed for something we did not do. We are unable to cope with it and so we are ending our lives. Perform our funeral together,” read the letter with the signatures of both the students.
The incident was confirmed by district education officer (DEO) Narayan Reddy. But repeated attempts to reach the warden and SC development officer of the district remained unsuccessful.
